The lid opens only twice

Once now, when the capsule is filled. Once again, whenever someone opens it. That is why the screw-down lid is built to survive both occasions — not a single-use seal, but a mechanism that will still work then.
Closing it needs no tools, so anyone at the ceremony can do it.

The hands that lower it in

Laying the cornerstone is a ceremony, not a task on the schedule. The client, the architect, the town’s representative, the site crew — each can place their own piece inside. It is the one moment where everyone does the same thing with their own hands.

It outlasts us all

Stainless steel does not give way to concrete or ground moisture. Copper darkens over the years but endures. They are the only sensible materials for an object whose service life is measured in generations, not warranty years.

Every capsule is made by hand in Kangasala — one at a time, not on a production line. It is the slower way, and the only way we can stand behind the result.
